CABHI and Thrive Alliance Partner to Promote Aging & Brain Health Technologies

Updated: Nov 14, 2022

Organizations to work together to accelerate adoption of innovative agetech solutions

The Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation (CABHI), powered by Baycrest, and the Thrive Alliance recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding confirming their plans to partner in promoting innovative aging and brain health technologies and solutions across Canada and the US.

CABHI, a Toronto-based global solution accelerator for the aging and brain health sector, provides funding and support to innovators for the development, testing, and dissemination of new ideas and technologies that address unmet brain health and seniors care needs.

Based in Louisville, Kentucky, the Thrive Alliance is a collaborative group of innovators, researchers and healthcare providers from across the United States who are focused on solving challenges and scaling solutions for the aging care market. Louisville’s Thrive Center brings together in one place an interactive, hands-on experience of the technology, innovation, and educational programs supported by the Alliance.

Through this new collaboration, CABHI and the Thrive Alliance will share expertise in validation testing, scaling, and commercializing agetech innovations. The collaboration also aims to strengthen and expand each organization’s extensive network of partners across North America and globally.

“CABHI’s new partnership with the Thrive Alliance will help us spread and scale even more promising Canadian agetech solutions across our country and the US,” said Dr. Allison Sekuler, Managing Director, CABHI, Sandra A. Rotman Chair in Cognitive Neuroscience and Vice-President of Research, Baycrest. “CABHI-supported solutions are vital to supporting the physical and mental health of older adults and their caregivers, populations who have been hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are looking forward to joining forces with the Thrive Alliance to improve the lives of seniors across North America.”

“Thrive’s collaboration with CABHI scales solutions across a global market. The opportunity to validate and accelerate adoption of innovative solutions has the potential to transform healthcare for a global aging demographic,” said Sheri Rose, CEO, Thrive Center Inc.

“The Thrive Alliance was created to pilot and become first adopters of innovation in support of the residents under our care. The need for more innovative approaches to care delivery can’t be more important than it is today and preparing for tomorrow’s baby boomers, who grew up with technology,” said Kris Hansen, CEO of Western Home and Thrive Board Chair.

CABHI gratefully acknowledges the support of its funders: the Government of Canada through the Public Health Agency of Canada, the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Colleges and Universities, and the Baycrest Foundation.
